Social ResponsibilityInvesting in infancy, adolescence, and youth means investing in the future. This is the reason why Oscar Iskin invests in Boxe Vidigal para Comunidade Carente (Vidigal Box for Poor Communities). The social and sport project was created by Prof. Raff Giglio and aims to provide physical, moral, and social development of children and teenagers from Vidigal Community in Rio de Janeiro, bringing the notions of citizenship and the expectation of a professional future for the students, who become participant, responsible, and productive adults. With the slogan “Working for the community. Educating by sport”, the project seeks to take children and teenagers out of the streets, keeping them away from drugs and the general violence, as well as to reveal some new box talents, aiming to enter the state and national team for disputing in several competitions, such as the Pan-American and Olympic Games. Why box?On the contrary of what people think, the practice of box reduces people’s anger in their daily lives. And as it is very popular among children and teenagers of poor communities, it can be used as an important tool of awareness, mobilization, and formation. Box is a sport that works on emotional, physical, social, cognitive, and moral basis, awakening values such as responsibility, respect to rules and to the competitor, discipline, avoiding addictions, and self-control. |
